A gestoría near you only pays off if you have paper to hand over, struggle with digital tools or have an unusual case. Otherwise, registration, how they act for you with the tax agency and how fast they reply matter more than distance.
This guide covers when to look nearby, how to search, how to check a firm is who it says it is and what to ask before you sign.

A nearby gestoría makes sense in three situations: you generate paper every month, e-signatures and government portals defeat you, or your case is unusual. Outside those three, you are choosing on distance something that happens online from start to finish.

With paper, handing over a folder each quarter saves you scanning and sorting. With an unusual case, such as several activities, foreign income or an open inspection, a long face to face conversation wins.
Search Google Maps for “gestoría” plus your neighbourhood and filter by rating before opening any listing. Maps is also where AI assistants send local searches, so this is where the choice is made.
A firm’s website tells you in two minutes whether it deserves a call. Look for these five things before you book a meeting.
We compare the options on five criteria, in this order: who answers for your file, how they act with the tax agency on your behalf, how fast they reply, what the fee includes and what it costs. Price comes last because it separates a good firm from a bad one less than the other four.
All prices are monthly and before VAT unless stated. Always confirm whether the fee includes VAT and whether the advertised price is the annual one.
Near you there are four formats: the neighbourhood office, the online gestoría with chat, the online gestoría with an assigned person and a platform with real accountants like renn. They differ in price, how you hand over documents and how fast they reply.

This is the traditional office, with a desk and a person who knows you. It costs between €50 and €100 a month before VAT in most cities, according to our gestoría price guide.
Pros
Cons
Best for people with paper, low digital confidence or an unusual case.
It serves you by chat, email or phone and files your quarterly returns without an office. Declarando, for example, charges €29.90 a month plus VAT on annual payment and €49.90 paying month by month, for people earning up to €1,000 a month.
Pros
Cons
Best for freelancers with one activity and few expenses who already work digitally.
Same idea, with one person who knows your case. AsesoraGes costs €34.90 a month with a personal advisor by phone and no tie-in, and Billeo €65 plus VAT with an assigned advisor and up to 15 invoices a quarter.
Pros
Cons
Best for people who want digital without explaining their case each time. More options are in our guide to online accounting platforms.
“Gestoría” and “asesoría” are not protected titles: anyone can put the sign up. What is regulated is the profession behind it, and you check it with a registration number.

If asking for the registration number gets you vagueness, you have your answer, because it is public information a professional gives without thinking. Ask also about professional indemnity insurance and the amount covered: if they get your filings wrong, that is what stands behind it. The Spanish colleges of gestores administrativos are listed on the Consejo General de Colegios de Gestores Administrativos.
To work for you, a gestoría needs authority to act in your name with the tax agency, and there are two ways to give it that are not equal: a registered power of attorney or your digital certificate. Ask which one they use before you sign.

You can check and revoke a power of attorney yourself in the tax agency’s electronic office, with a certificate or Cl@ve. You see who has powers over you, for which procedures and until when.
A digital certificate you handed over three years ago does not expire on its own. If the gestoría’s answer is “send us your certificate”, ask for the power of attorney in writing.
Bring seven documents and the meeting is useful from day one, because the firm can see your real situation and not only what you tell them.
Your gestoría needs your invoices and expenses before the deadline for forms 303 and 130. In 2026, according to the tax agency calendar, those deadlines fall on 20 April, 20 July and 20 October, and the fourth quarter runs to 30 January, as it did in 2026 for 2025.
Ask what internal deadline the firm gives you, which is always earlier than the official one. If they say “whenever you can”, expect to file at the last minute and in a rush.
Gestoría reviews are not read like restaurant reviews: few of them is not a bad sign, and bad ones with a pattern are the ones that count.
Five signs are enough to rule out a firm before you pay anything.
Four questions are worth asking before the first meeting, because “we speak English” can mean very different things. Ask them in this order.
A smaller local office that has handled foreigners for years often beats a large firm with an English page on its website.
Ask these twelve questions in your first meeting or call and write down the answers. If three or more go unanswered, look for another firm.

Tax, accounting and employment work are three different services and are almost always billed separately. If you sign up for a freelancer package and later hire someone, the employment part is not included.
What each block includes is in the guide to payroll gestoría. If your case does not need anyone nearby, the remote options are covered in our guide to online accounting platforms.
Only if you have paper documents, digital tools defeat you or your case is complex. For a standard activity, being close does not improve the service.
Ask for the registration number and the college. You can confirm it by phoning the college in your province. A registered professional gives that information without a problem.
No, and it is better not to. The right arrangement is a power of attorney registered with the tax agency for the agreed procedures, which you can check and revoke whenever you want.
Between €50 and €100 a month before VAT, according to our price guide. It goes up if you have several activities or employees. Online gestorías cost between €25 and €60 a month before VAT.
From the tax agency’s electronic office, identifying yourself with a certificate, electronic DNI or Cl@ve. There you see the powers granted and can revoke them. The revocation takes effect from the moment it is communicated.
Yes. Get your books, your filed returns and your invoices before telling anyone, and revoke the powers once the new firm has what it needs.
